Have you ever struggled to want to speak God’s truth with faith when the weight of your feelings from a situation you find yourself in scream to cry out in despair? Even strong believers and tested warriors can find themselves facing this giant. The enemy is relentless in his efforts to lure us from keeping our eyes firmly focused on our faithful and absolutely GOOD Heavenly Father.
We always have a choice. We can give in to pain and frustration. Or… we can choose as an act of our will to rise above the noise and very real pain and declare our rights as a blood bought daughter of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Look up today, raise your hands in worship, and ask God to help you rise up out of that grave.
Speaking in faith is truth — but it is a higher truth. It is agreeing with what God says about you and your situation, rather than being ruled by what you see, feel, or experience in the natural. Biblical faith is not denying reality or lying to yourself. It is choosing to speak God’s promises over your circumstances with honesty and trust.
The Balance: Honest + Full of Faith
God does not want you to pretend you’re not struggling. He honors honesty. At the same time, He calls you to speak in alignment with who you are in Christ, not just how you feel in the natural.
Here’s how to do it well:
- Acknowledge the natural honestly –to God and yourself
- Declare God’s truth in faith –what He says is more real
- Speak with humility and confidence –not denial or exaggeration
Biblical Examples & Instructions
Your words are so powerful they will kill or give life, and the talkative person will reap the consequences.
Proverbs 18: 21 TPT
Jesus taught us to speak to mountains (Mark 11:23).
Listen to the truth I speak to you: Whoever says to this mountain with great faith and does not doubt, ‘Mountain, be lifted up and thrown into the midst of the sea,’ and believes what he says will happen, it will be done.
Mark 11: 23 TPT
Notice He didn’t say to pretend the mountain isn’t there. He said to speak faith to it.
Practical Way to Speak in Faith as a Widow
Instead of:
“I’m all alone and I can’t do this.” (This can condemn and depress you.)
Speak like this:
“Lord, right now I feel very alone and overwhelmed. The weight of widowhood feels heavy today. I choose to speak Your truth. I am not alone — You are with me. You are my Husband and my Helper. I am capable in Christ. Your strength is made perfect in my weakness. I declare I am a Proverbs 31 woman of strength and valor. You are empowering me by Your Holy Spirit to rise up and walk in victory.”
Helpful Faith Confessions
My old identity was co-crucified with Christ and no longer lives. The essence of my new life is no longer mine, for the Anointed One lives His life through me—I live in union as one! My new life is empowered by the faith of the Son of God who loves me so much He gave Himself for me, dispensing His life into mine!
Galatians 2: 20 TPT
YAHWEH is my best friend and my shepherd. I always have more than enough.
Psalm 23: 1 TPT
I am God’s beloved one. I am supernaturally infused with strength through my life-union with the Lord Jesus. I stand victorious with the force of His explosive power flowing in and through me.
Ephesians 6: 10 TPT
Key Principles for Speaking in Faith Without Condemning Yourself
- Be honest first — Tell God exactly how you feel. He can handle it.
- Then pivot to faith — After honesty, declare what God says is true.
- Use “I am” statements — Based on Scripture, not just feelings.
- Speak with humility — “Lord, I feel weak, but I declare Your strength in me.”
- Avoid extremes — Don’t say “I’m never sad” if you are. Instead say, “Though I have moments of grief, joy is rising in me because of Jesus.”
For you as a widow
Your words are building your future. Speak life over your home, your heart, your future, and your calling. You can be fully honest about the pain of loss while boldly declaring the Holy Spirit is making you alive, capable, and victorious in Christ.
Let’s Pray
Father, help me speak words that honor You. Teach me to be honest about my struggles but not ruled by them. Let my mouth speak the truth of who I am in Christ — alive, capable, strong, and filled with Your Spirit. May my words align with Your Word and bring life. In the precious name of Jesus, my Lord and Savior, Amen.
So may the words of my mouth, my meditation-thoughts, and every movement of my heart be always pure and pleasing, acceptable before Your eyes, YAHWEH, my only Redeemer, my Protector.
Psalm 19: 14 TPT
I won’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. I am saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering my faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. I tell Him every detail of my life, and God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, guards my heart and mind through Jesus Christ.
Philippians 4: 6-7 TPT
So now I draw near freely and boldly to where grace is enthroned, to receive mercy’s kiss and discover the grace I urgently need to strengthen me in my time of weakness.
Hebrews 4: 16 TPT
